App of the Day – Panic’s Coda

14 Sep

CODA is an all in one web development tool that RULES!!!  It includes a text editor for code, style editor for CSS, FTP, a terminal, browser preview & built in reference books.  It is collaborative, intuitive and even has that well designed Mac UI.  (It won the Apple Design Award back in 2007) I recently tested it out with their 15 day free trial and not only was it fun and easy to use, it sped up my workflow by at least 50%.  Even at a step price tag of $99, it is totally worth it and I highly recommend it.

Tapbots is a two man developer team.  They are real genius.  They make my favorite iOS apps, which I use on a regular basis.  Tweetbot is my favorite Twitter client.  That is all.

The 15th Annual Webby Awards

15 Jun

The results are in!!!  The 15th Annual Webby Awards took place on June 13th, 2011 and as usual the nominees were cutting edge and represented the current culture of all things World Wide Web.  Every year I review the nominees and always find a hidden gem or two.  In hopes of all my readers doing the same, here are the winners.

App of the Day – Carousel…the best way to experience Instagram on your Mac

6 Jun

If you are a regular reader of The Electric-Daily then you know that we love Instagram.  You then also know that we love our Macs and Apple products across the board.  Well, when I came across Carousel by Mobelux just last week, I found a new favorite app.  Carousel is simply the best way to experience Instagram on your Mac. This beautifully designed app allows you to view your photo feed, view the most popular photo feed, like & comment on photos, as well as view your profile and the profiles of others, all in a simple and fun design.  Though my favorite features are the ability to drag and drop to save full size photos to your desktop, preview full size photos by pressing the spacebar and the option to save any photo straight to iPhoto.  A 15 day free trial is available here and it is available in the Mac App Store for $4.99.  Let us know what you think in the comments below.

Bonus: under preferences in the menu bar you can customize the appearance of the app, “nothing special” “no big deal” you say?… well it is a big deal when each customization is of Wes Anderson influence.

TweetyPop by TapFactory Apps

3 May

The developers over at  TapFactory Apps have just released a new app called TweetyPop that looks to be “re-imagining” the way we experience Twitter.  The above video is a first look into the iPad only app and it looks promising.  If anyone has downloaded this app let us know your experience in the comments below.
