To Bee Gee or Not to Bee Gee
26 May
For anyone who thought the Bee Gees were just a disco band. Please Read Me.. (guess the album). The Bee Gees were Bee Geeing it up before Disco even came along, doing their soul thang, when Robert Stigwood asked them to record a few songs for a little movie he was producing called “Saturday Night Fever”. Needless to say the movie blew up and the disco label was thrust upon them. Funny thing, this was a comeback for them, a second phase if you will and they were cranking out hits in their sleep. (in 1978 they had 5 of the top 10 hits on the charts). I personally love their “Disco” tunes, (read funk & soul), but I love even more, their tunes prior (check out Bee Gees 1st, Odessa, Cucumber Castle 2 Years On & Trafalgar). They were master craftsmen of music and song and will always remain one of my favorite bands.
